The Seat

|

This phrase is the reason for the very existence of the safe-T-seat. The safe-T-seat is more than just a child carrier, its 6 years work by a mother and father who were disappointed with the other family bicycling options available, including both front and rear mounted carriers. The bicycle trailers were great for them but terrible for their kids. The children couldn't see anything but dirt and rocks and when they closed the front flap to keep the dust and dirt out of their faces, they got too hot or just fell asleep because it was BORING for them. They didn't like the rear-mounted seats because their kids just got to see their backsides and it was next to impossible to speak with them, never mind trying to point things out for them to see during the ride. Again, NOT FUN! The balance of the bike was off and the safety issues made them nervous. The safety advantages of the safe-T-seat are that you always maintain control of the bike when loading and unloading your child, you can see what your child is doing at all times, and the center of gravity is closer to the center of the bike making it easier to control.
They tried other front mounted seats. They proved to be complicated to attach onto the bike. And once they were attached, it was another long process whenever you wanted to remove them. The biggest problem they had with the other front mounted seats is that we had to ride bow-legged and it was very uncomfortable to ride for a long time. They loved the idea of the front mounted seat but knew they could change it and make it better and easier for other families. They made their patented “Stinger” assembly easy to attach and remove from the bike. The seat sits higher up and is very smooth on the bottom. So even if your knees ever hit the bottom of the seat, they will just glide along the smooth edges of the bottom. Additionally, they were able to get a trailer bike and this made it so that one parent was then able to take both children for a ride. What could be better for a stay-at-home mom!
They soon found themselves designing a prototype for a completely new type of front mounted child carrier for bicycles. Starting out with cardboard, scissors and tape – they moulded and created a carrier which mounted to the handlebar stem and moves with the handlebars when turning. The carrier seat mounts securely to a sturdy quick disconnecting bracket called the “Stinger”, this allows for quick installation and removal of the carrier so the bicycle can be operated with or without the carrier in a matter of 10 seconds. This small detail is what sets the safe-T-seat apart from every other child carrier on the market, it allows for a greater ability to balance and steer the bicycle and completely stops the odd-feeling balance and center-of-gravity issues encountered with other carriers mounted solidly to the frame of the bicycle at the front or rear.
